Laser Therapy

A noninvasive treatment using specific wavelengths of light. Your physiotherapist may add it to your rehabilitation when it is clinically appropriate.

Overview

About Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is a noninvasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light. It can be added to physiotherapy or rehabilitation when it is clinically appropriate.

It may be considered for muscle and soft tissue discomfort, stiffness, short term relief of pain or discomfort, support for tissue recovery and recovery after activity or injury. Responses vary, and laser therapy is always part of a broader plan rather than a treatment on its own.

Laser + shockwave as part of physiotherapy

Laser therapy and shockwave therapy may each be incorporated into an individualized rehabilitation programme when clinically appropriate after assessment. Your physiotherapist will explain whether either modality suits your goals, and how it fits alongside exercise, manual therapy and education.
